Shea Langeliers among hottest players to open season
In an unprecedented opening to the year, every team in the Longmeadow division has started off with a series victory. Among the best performing teams, re-branded newcomers the Thousand Island Stares fought off a valiant Rollers squad, leading the pack at 5-2-2.
The annual Holy Land matchup in Riverton, IL brought particular drama with an Easter conclusion in which the Vapegods were decidedly not risen, as they fell in the series to the Crackers, 3-6.
"The Crackers continue to demonstrate our commitment to the people of Israel and are working closely with the Sangamon and Menard county agricultural and livestock communities to cultivate and procure a red heifer," said Crackers' GM Drew Lang. "With any luck this series will have been our and the Vapegods' last as we look to bring about the Apocalypse and end our cruel existence on this wicked world."
Elsewhere, the Knickerbockers squeezed out a series victory over the fresh-faced Wiener Dogs at Olmsted Field, led by Shea Langeliers with 5 HRs and 8 RBIs. Langeliers will look to remain hot this week against Papa Bauer's New Roc Rollers.
Power Rankings will return in the recap to Week 3, but all signs point to the Knickerbockers as the team to beat out of the gate, as they lead the roto data in Runs, HRs, and RBI.
