Slugger Bids Hudson River Adieu

Kyle Schwarber Traded to Wiener Dogs

Washington Ave — April 21, 2026

In a late night, two-team bidding war for the Hudson River Sturgeon DH slugger Kyle Schwarber, Washington Avenue emerged the victors as Sturgeons GM David Gillick seeks to build the future of his franchise.

Schwarber was exchanged for a 2027 2nd round pick and a 2027 10th round pick. Reports state that the other team in contention was the Japana Bananas, who allegedly offered Riley Greene, Willy Adames, and a 2027 5th round pick.

At the press conference, Gillick emphasized the need to rebuild in the future, and the bottleneck the team was faced with in the DH spot with Shohei Ohtani as their standard start in that position.

“We’re thrilled to have Schwarber in the clubhouse,” Wiener Dogs SS Corey Seager said this morning at warmups. “This is a squad with a lot of pop and we’re happy to add more to the lineup.”

When asked if the Sturgeons would seek out top tier pitching with their acquired picks next season, Gillick stated, “I’m committed to not focus on pitching at all for as long as I’m in this league.”
